Site Search Analysis is a rather recent addition to a site administrator's toolbox, but it has gained a lot of traction in the past few years โ and very justly so, in my opinion. Analyzing what people search for once they are on your site, and how they react to the search results you (resp. your site) present them, can tell you a lot about what your visitors want and thus be an immense help in improving your site's content (and search).
However, with the current popular tools, Site Search Analysis is still a very technical operation, involving manual browsing and interpretation of lots of statistical data, sifting through for the few significant keywords where improvement is possible/necessary. It's nothing that normal site editors should be required to do in their day-today work โ although it's exactly them who would profit the most from it, and who will be responsible for implementing the changes indicated by the analysis.
Enter Visitors Voice
A few months ago, though, I was contacted by a Swedish company, Adeptic, who are planning to change exactly this. I was hired to help them with their newest product, called Visitors Voice, which aims to harness the whole power of Site Search Analysis into an easy-to-use tool which tells site editors exactly which popular keywords need improvement, what is wrong and how they can fix it. They also have Drupal (only API integration so far) and Wordpress integration, so editors can get this information from right within the CMS they are working in.
As said, I am working with them on it so I might be somewhat biased, but I still think it's a great idea that could be of use to a lot of larger sites. If you are running a site (or several) where you think this might be useful, just give it a try and see what you think! They offer 30 days of free trial so you can properly evaluate it before making any decision.
Also, if you decide to keep using it, you can get a 10% discount if you use the voucher code "drunkenmonkey".
And now, for something completely different
Apart from this, they have also published a series of articles on making site search successful, which you might find interesting in any case.
